Can Office 2003 save directly to CDRW through File > Save etc?

If so can you save and backup Outlook files directly to CDRW

And Save As excel files to a CDRW and make changes etc and save those as the same file on the same disk?

CD's are read only and Outlook requires full read/write access even with
exporting, so no.

You need Roxio DirectCD (or Drag-To-Disc) or Nero InCD installed first.
Then you need to format the CDRW. Once this has been done, you can save on
it in the usual way just like you save on a hard disk.

The only thing is that if you want to take it onto another computer, to read
it they need a UDF reader installed first (although Windows XP users can
read the disc straight away).

Sorry I was under the impression that the poster wanted to go straight from
an Office program straight to the CD.

Not if the user has a suitable packet-writing software installed

Oh yes, he can, but he has to install suitable packet-writing software like
Roxio DirectCD (or Drag-To-Disc) or Nero InCD, then format his disc. Then
he can save to CDRW just like he'd save to another disk.

Hope I wasn't too abrupt.

Hi Adam,

Yes, given that you have the correct software as advised by others in
this thread. However you may have problems in Word due to various temp
files created in the same folder as the document.

It's advised that you do not work directly off a floppy or a CD as it
is one of the leading causes of file corruption. I would use a USB
drive instead.

Also note in Word you should go to Tools/Options/Save and turn on
"Make local copy of files stored on network or removable drives" to
decrease potential problems and file corruption.
