Can only see first page when pasting text

When I am copying information from another source and then pasting it into
word, if the amount of info (can be just text, or text and photos) I paste is
longer than one page, my document only shows the one page. If I go to the
end of that page and hit <ctrl> <enter> it then creates the next page and
continues at the correct point with the test. Consequently I go to the end
of the second page, and repeat until I think I can view all of the
information I just pasted. If I then save this document and re-open it, same
thing happens and I have to tell Word to create all the pages after the first
page. I think this is a new phenomenon for me so did my Word program get
glitched? Why doesn't it just create as many pages as it needs and keep them
all viewable?

What version of Word, and what version of Mac OS?

Does it matter whether you're in Normal or Page Layout view?

Word doesn't actually store information about pages - they're always
created on the fly.

'Fraid so, Andi.

You've landed in a discussion group for users of Mac versions of Word (not
your fault: it's a charming foible of Microsoft's web interface, which you
used). Mac versions differ variously from PC versions. Although several
people here use both PCs and Macs, it's likely that more people in a PC
group have experienced your specific problem. Here's where all the groups
are listed:

Hi Andi:

Yeah, it posted in the Mac Word forum. Not your fault...
"discussions.microsoft.com" is a toxic soup...

However, J.E. Gave you the answer, which is the same for PC and Mac.

You do not have to create pages ‹ Word will do it for you.

In the "Normal" view, Word shows you the document in a view similar to its
internal view, with no page breaks.

In Page Layout View, Word will show you the document as close as it can to
how it will print, with page breaks and headers and footers and the margins
all as you have specified them in the File>Page Setup dialog.

You can change views using the View menu, or by clicking the buttons at the
bottom left of the screen.

Cheers

I am not on a Mac, I'm on a PC and its version 10. Did this post in the
wrong forum?
