Can pdfs be imported into Publisher 2007?

I publish a newsletter. Ads are sometimes submitted as .pdfs. I have been
using Publisher 2003, which necessitates converting the .pdfs to .jpegs. Will
Publisher 2007 import the .pdfs as is?

====================================
For import into Pub 2007...converting .pdfs to an
image format is still the best option.

Have a look at the following info from Ed Bennett:

Converting PDF Files So that they can be imported into Publisher
http://ed.mvps.org/Static.aspx?=Publisher/convertpdf

More from Ed Bennett:

When you import any unsupported filetype into Publisher through Insert >
Object, what you get is an OLE object. What this is is entirely up to
the OLE Server - probably Acrobat/Reader in this case. It isn't under
Publisher's control at all. Possibilities seen in this group range from
no support at all (just a PDF icon appearing instead) up to
full-resolution support. I've not spotted any correlation between the
outcome and other factors. The only way to RELIABLY import PDFs into
Publisher is to convert them to a supported image format rather than
relying on OLE objects.
