Cannot access Help files in Office XP Programs

I can access the primary menus where I ask the question. When I get a list
of probable answers and click on one of them there is no response. This is
true in Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

The article referred to Office 2000 and I tried anyway but it did not work.
I also checked the related articles listed but none seem to work or apply.

I am using Office XP, which is basically 2003. I can open the Office
Assistant and enter my question. I then get a menu of responses on point.
When I click on one of the responses I get nothing.

I once had Office 2000 and replaced it with Office XP. With 2000 I had the
Office Toolbar, which is not available in XP. I see that the toolbar could
cause problems with help. Could some of 2000 still be on the computer.

Sorry it didn't work.

A couple clarifications...2003 is not basically XP, the help system in
2003 is quite different now.

Also...the Office shortcut bar was just removed in Office 2003, not
from XP. See
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=327 for
more info.

When you upgrade from one version to the next, the system files are
updated to the new version. So I don't see why a previous version
would cause a conflict.

Not sure what else to tell you, except maybe try Detect and Repair off
the Help menu.

Thanks for trying to help. Maybe I'll just uninstall and reinstall it to
see if that will work.

Well...I never recommend that since that RARELY works to fix anything.
However...it HAS been known to occasionally work. However, before you
go through the uninstall/reinstall...you should try the Detect and
Repair. It's a bit faster and the purpose of that feature IS to find
incorrect system file and/or reg info and fix it with fresh
files/info...whereas an uninstall won't remove all the system files
and a reinstall will not necessarily do that.

So if you're going to spend the time...go for the D/R first.

Good luck...
