Cannot activate Headerand Footer Toolbar

Try as I might I cannot activate the header and Footer toolbar in Publisher
2007.

I have tried 'repairing' the install. De-Installing and reinstalling.

The option to display the toolbar is there but simply will not 'check'.
(just the annoying 'donk' sound when trying to check the box.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you go to the Master Page (ctrl+m) can you activate the header & footer that
way? Otherwise they are just text boxes at the top and bottom. Can you insert
page numbers?

Publisher doesn't support footnotes in the same way Microsoft Word uses
footnotes. Basically headers and footers are only for page numbers or other
objects you want to show up on each page.

Thanks or the speedy response Mary.

No, the toolbar will not activate in any view.

If I try to invoke View, Toolbars, Customise the Headers and Footers
checkbox will not allow me to 'check' it.

I could put the information on a master page, but wanted to insert some
other information within a header or footer area.

If it's a 'known' fault, I'll live with it but it's a little annoying.

Thanks

Nigel

Nigel, I have a nephew whom I have never met named Nigel Brooks. Is your middle
name Israel?

That said, when you select headers and footers, there is no checkmark, the
program automatically goes to the master page and the words header and footer
are visible. You can put this command on the toolbar. Right-click the toolbar,
click customize, Commands tab, View. Scroll down to Headers and Footers.
