Cannot Create File "filename.htm" in Frontpage 2000

Hello All,

I have given the task of updating the company's webpage. I have access
to the server & folder the files for the webpage are at.

I can create a webpage & save it to the server, also edit & delete the
same page I create. I can also copy a page that was already created to
my PC & edit that, but here is where the problems come in.

I cannot overwrite a file already created with the same one I edited,
or If i had opened the file from the server in FP, I get the error
"Server Error: Cannot Create filename.htm"

I would have to assume that I don't have full permissions for the
webserver, mainly "update"

Basically I just need to know if this is the main reason that I would
be having problems.

Thanks

Not sure why you are "copying " the files to your PC to edit them

Open the Site in FP (if it has the FP SE) and just double click the file in Folder List to edit it

If the site does not have the FP SE, FTP the entire site to a folder on your PC - say C:\OurWeb
Then open the folder in FP using File Open Site (FP will convert it to a FP Web)
When done editing (per above) Publish the site back to the server
For FTP publishing in FP see
