Cannot run Office after 98SE install

After installing 98SE, trying to open an Office app (Word, Excel, etc) gets
the error message "This app must be installed to run. Please run Setup from
the location where you originally installed the app." The .exe files are
there but won't run. I don't have the Office 2000 CD. What can I do? Thanks.
