cannot see email in subfolders issue

I have a user that is using Outlook 2003, has many subfolders under his inbox
and a mailbox that is 1.2GB. About ounce a month an issue occurs where he
will not be able to view any of his email in the sub folders including Sent
Items. Instead when he clicks on the folder a message appears in the right
pane which states:

"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the
specified folder
location. The operation cannot be performed because the connection to the
server is offline."

In the bottom left it says:

"All folders are up to date. Connected"

Eventhough he cannot view whats in his subfolders he can view email in his
Inbox.

I did notice that the problem goes away if I recreate his outlook profile
and have it pull down all his mail but that only works for about a month then
I have the same problem again. Also he is the only user with this problem.

How can I fix this issue?
