can't apply template

I can open a template file and edit it but when I try to apply it to a
presentation nothing happens. The screen is simply blank. All of my other
templates work just fine but of course, the two that will not work are the
most important. Are there any file size restrictions on template files?

I tried setting the images as a background and that didn't work either.

Please help

Please help us help you. What version of PowerPoint are you using? What steps
are you taking to apply the template? What View are you in at the time? After
changing the template are you saving it before trying to use it?
