Can't Compact .pst

K

Kara

I have tried to compact my personal folders. I have
followed the steps that Microsoft provided. I have checked
my setting and my Outlook is set for Internet Mail Only.

When i right click on a personal folder and go to
Properties i do not see an "Advanced" Feature to compact.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you are set for internet mail only, wouldn't that make the files you are
trying to compact remote? Find your pst file and look at the size. If it
does not change as you read your mail over the next couple of days then you
are not downloading anything to your system.

You cannot compact individual folders in your information store (PST
file). "Folder" is a minomer; it's a way of showing the hierarchy of
items stored in the file. You need to right-click on the root node of
the tree (Outlook Today) and use Properties from there to compact the
entire PST file.
