Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I was running entourage webservices client
had soany problems decided to uninstall and reinstall
regular office 2008. I used the remove office
tool but it doesn't remove office completly. When i reinstall
from cd it knows and doesn't ask me for a license key
I've tried going in and deleting main identity and the
prefernce files but sethimg os still there. When I reinstall
and apply all updates to 12.1.9 and try to launch
entourage it tells me there is a database problem and to
use the tool to fix. When the tool launches there is no main
identity' what do I do. I'm dead in the water

Was this the EWS beta? AFAIK, removing should not be different.

"Remove Office" for Office 2008 is incomplete. See this page for a list of
files it does not delete.

After you remove all files manually, then follow these steps to reinstall,
but add one additional step. Move the Microsoft User Data folder to the
desktop.

Steps to re-install Office

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/reinstall_steps.html>

Let Entourage create a new blank Microsoft User Data folder and a new blank
Identity. Does Entourage open in the new Identity without error? If yes,
quit Entourage then move back your Main Identity from the desktop. Open
Entourage in your old Identity. Does it still give you the error?

ok - your suggestions worked. key issue was User data folder wasnt going away and it also wouldnt allow a new identity to be created until i dragged it to the desktop.

yes it was EWS beta. A comment on that. their has been one release of the beta code since January. It is rife with bugs and crashes multiple time a day. their has been no communication or update. Worst Beta process i have EVER partcipated - if you could call it that? i have used this as an opportunity to go back to GA code.

You should let MS know how you felt about the experience either on
Connect or through the Send Feedback link in any of the Office
applications.
