Can't enter Tasks

Outlook 2003, Tasks: Under To-Do Tile, first line on page (Click here to add
a new task) when I try to enter a task title I get "You can't change this
field in this item. The property does not exist. The field you want to modify
is not valid for this type of item. I can't seem to enter tasks anywhere.
Ideas greatly appreciated!
