can't open a word document

I have a document from 2002 that I desperately need to
open, but when I tried to, all I got was a bunch of square
symbols! Help!

Wendy,
Is it possible you do not have fonts installed in
the computer you are using that match the fonts used by
the original program? Normally WORD will substitute
another font, but I have seen circumstances where it
could not, and the symptoms you describe.

The document was my resume, that I created on my older
laptop which had Microsoft Windows 98. Now I'm using XP.
I think when I transferred it to the new computer is when
it got screwed up. Can I email you the document to look
at possibly?
