I use Outlook Express to retrieve email from several
different POP3 servers. Recently a message coming in from
one of those servers contained a virus. My virus scan
caught it immediately and deleted the infected file.
However, Outlook Express never successfully downloaded
that message from the server. Consequently, every time I
check for email from that server, I get infected with the
virus, my virus scan deletes the file, and Outlook Express
gives me a message saying that my POP3 server has not
responded in 60 seconds, do I want to wait? No matter how
many times I say "yes" nothing ever happens.
I've tried to check the email directly from the server
(not via Outlook express) but the message is not there.
It seems as though Outlook Express has deleted it from the
POP3 server, stored it temporarily in a queue of messages
to be downloaded into the Outlook Express GUI, and it's
now stuck there.
Where is this temporary storage area? How can I delete
this infected message?
