can't send or receive email

All of a sudden after using Outlook for my email for
several years, I am getting a message that "Server cannot
be found" when I try to send or receive email.
Strangely, I can get on line using MSN explorer.
Verizon, my isp, says it is the software, not the
connection.
I am puzzled.

I too am having simimar problems. After several months of
problem free use, I get "error 0x8004210B - timed out
while waiting for response". My ISP check the network
connections, everything is OK there.

I notice that this problem started after installing some
XP patches over the weekend. I don't remember which ones.

Could this be the issue?
