Can't use word as email editor

I receive the following message when trying to send an
email: "This form requires Word as your email editor, but
Word is either busy or cannot be found. The form will be
opened in the Outlook editor instead".
This has only started happening during the last few
days. My Office XP pro has been installed on Windows XP
professional for over one year without this problem
occuring.
I have recently attached an add-in template to the Word
email (by placing the template in the start-up folder).
A short time afterwards Outlookstopped responding, 'hung'
and I had to 'End the Task' manually.
I tried to open the copy of the template (in the user
template folder) and Word 'hung'. After ending the task
and trying again I received a warning that trying to open
this previously had caused a serious error, when I
continued to open the template Word 'hung' again.
I have since deleted all versions (in all locations) of
this template but Outlook still 'hangs' when I attempt to
create a new message.
I found a MKB Article - 319796 and followed the advice
and deleted the respective rigistry entries and then
repaired office as instructed.
Now I receive the above error message every time I try to
send an email.

Did you bother to check at support.microsoft.com with the search string
"word is either busy or cannot be found"?
