Can't view inserted files

Had Powepoint in Office 97. After upgrade to Windows 2000/Office 2000 when I open the ppt file, the inserted Clip Art files don't show in the standard view. If I switch to a Slide Show view I can see them and when I print, they are included in the output. It's just in the normal view that they can't be seen. Then I can't open them and edit them. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
