Change in predecessor after baseline doesnt change the start date

Girija

Hello,

I am using MSP 2003. I have baslined a project and some updations have
happened. But I am in a situation, where I have to change some predecessors
(predecessor being the updated task) and rebaseline. But when I am trying to
change the predecessor its not updating the start date.

My doubts are :

1) Can we rebaseline the project where some updations have happened?
2) Why the start date is not getting updated to the new date?
3) What is the best practise in such situation?

Thanks

Girija

Hi Girja,

I will try to answer your questions:
1) Can we rebaseline the project where some updations have happened? Yes you can
2) Why the start date is not getting updated to the new date?
that can have several reasons, first if you already started the task, the
actual start has already been updated. Actual Start and Start will be the
same on a task that you are working on.
Second option: The dependency does not change the start date, meaning that
the start date is within the dependency of the new task.
Check out the actual start, should this not be NA but the date of the start
date, then you will not be able to change this ( which makes sense)
3) What is the best practise in such situation?
Depending on what the sitiuation actually is. If you need to rebaseline
because of a change request, I would rebaseline to refelect the impact the
change request have on the project

I hope this helps
