Change Picture to fit the frame option

V

Vaughan

Hi,

I use a very old version of ms publisher at the moment which gives the
option "resize the picture to fit the frame" when inserting an image in to a
picture box. This is very useful if you need all pictures on all pages the
same size.

I am trialing this new version (2007) and I cannot seem to find a way of
setting up a document with set picture box sizes that will not resize when I
insert an image. It is a pain to have to go through every page of a document
and have to drag the picture boxes out to the right size.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Vaughan

A couple of suggestions. Create a one cell table, right-click the table, format
table, size tab. With your cursor in the cell, fill, fill effects, picture tab.
Create a rectangle, right-click, format object, size tab. Select the rectangle,
fill, fill effects, picture tab.

Mary,

Many thanks that has helped me out a lot. Not as quick for inserting images
as before, why they removed that option I will probably never know, but it
does mean I can finally upgrade from Publisher 97!!!!

Keep 97, install it in its own folder. There are templates in 97 that never
showed up in subsequent versions.

They did so because people were creating butt-ugly documents. Virtually
all pictures are designed to be displayed at a particular ratio of width
to height (for example, a square image is designed to be displayed at a
ratio of 1:1). Stretching images distorts them. You can sometimes get
away with a little distortion, but too much and your image just looks
ugly. To accomplish the task without making things look ugly takes a
tasteful combination of resizing, cropping, moving, and rearranging
other content - something that Publisher is nowhere near intelligent
enough to handle.
