Change start date and the rest will

E

Elvis

Hi,

I am a relatively new user of project. I have created 30 individual tasks
that all follow one another by date so for example.. if task 1 starts on the
3rd....and runs for 4 days it will end on the 6th...the 7th will be a new
task. If I change the start date on task 1 how do I get the rest of the dates
to automatically change to reflect the new start date?

Thanking You

First save a copy of your file under a different name just in case you need
to refer back to it.

At the upper left corner below the toolbars click on the square which is the
intersection of the column headers and row headers. This selects all the
tasks.

Hold down the shift key and press the F2 key. This brings up the task dialog
box.

Go to the advanced tab.

In the "constraint type" box select "as soon as possible"

Click OK.

Now you are ready to begin using dependencies to link the tasks together.
You can do this a number of ways. Here are the 4 most common ways.

1) Select the two tasks to link and click on the little chain icon on the
tool bar.
2) Select the two tasks to link and hit (Ctrl+F2)
3) Place your cursor over the middle of the first task and drag a dependency
to the one you want to link to.
4) Go to the predecessor column and enter the line number of the predecessor
tasks. If there are more than one use commas to separate them.

I suggest you work through the tutorial that comes with project. It will
really help you a lot.

Hi,

thank you all for your help. It is greatly appreciated. The Shift F2 method
worked and now I can change all my dates accordingly. Its only easy when you
know where to click. This is why I love Microsoft products. Its a small word
called support. Thanks again.

Thanking You

Elvis,

The people who helped you here do not work for microsoft. Microsoft only
provides the forum. You can thank me by helping someone else.
