change text box border

I tried reading all related posts, and hope I am not reposting something
already listed...

Is there any way in Word 2003 to change the individual sides of a text box?

I see I can change the point thickness of all or none of the sides, but I am
looking to change the point value of just one side of a text box. I think I
could get by just drawing bold lines around what I want, but can't seem to do
this in Word w/o using draw table which messes it all up.

Thanks in advance

You can't do this with a text box, because there's only one control for all
the lines that make up the border.

Instead of a text box, insert a one-cell table. Right-click it and choose
Borders & Shading, where you can set each individual border as you like.
Drag the table to the location and size you want.

Hello-

A Text Box, no, but you can do what you want if you convert the Text Box to
a Frame...

Select the Text Box, then go to Format>Text Box, on the Text Box page click
the 'Convert to Frame...' button, OK to confirm. Then you can select the
Frame and use Borders & Shading options to format/remove each side.
