Changing data in SQL Server

I created a Project using Project Professional and published it to the
server. Next I went to the SQL Server database and changed something on the
MSP_tasks table. The Server copy of the project was not changed but the
Client copy of the Project was changed. After I published from Client again
the server copy was updated. Is this how it works?

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
yes, that is how the Project Server system works. When you save a project,
the system saves the project data in a series of Tables prefixed with
"MSP_". When you publish a project, the system saves the published project
information in a series of Tables prefixed with "MSP_WEB_". Beyond this,
given your newness to the tool, refer to the following FAQ for information
about documentation, books, and training on Project Server:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/PS2003Documentation.htm

Hope this helps.
