Changing default published fields

Chuck

I am using the default "% of work complete" method for all my projects,
this works well for what we want. What I do not like is the default
selection of fields which are published. I would like to clean up the
Webs' "View My Tasks" page for users so that they do not see so many
fields. I am also adding some additional fields when I publish, and I
would also like to be able to rearrange the column order as it appears
on the web.

I have 2002 standard on the desktop, and 2002 server sp1. Is this
possible.

I appreciate any input,

I have some bad news for you, my friend. All of the functionality you seek
is available in Project Server 2003, but not in 2002. In Project Server
2002, you can add to the list of Published fields by adding the fields to
each project in Microsoft Project by clicking Tools - Customize - Published
Fields, adding the additional fields you want users to see in their View My
Tasks page, and clicking OK. After doing so, you must also republish the
assignments in each project using Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments. When you perform these two series of actions, the new fields
will appear automatically on the far right end of the task list on each
user's View My Tasks page. Each user must then drag these new fields into
their desired location in the list of task columns. There is no way that
you (the Project Server administrator) can hide any of the columns on the
View My Tasks page. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. This is one of several issues I've had to
confront to which the answer has been the same (yes in 2003, no in
2002), I just have to extend my thanks again to Mr. Gates on the robust
life cycle of 2002, and the great licensing obsticles in 2003. I have
usually found an acceptible approach using 2002 without requiring users
to pay the price.

I'm trying to provide a cost effective, robust, primarily web based
solution and the release of 2003 just months after my purchase of 2002
would get me hung by management if I were to ask for money for an
upgrade especially with the requirement of professional on the desktop
to publish in 2003 environment.

Thanks Mr. Bill (right!!!)

But truly thanks to you Dale!!!
