Changing default working time on Project XP and 2003

I am trying to change the default working time for all new projects.
Currently, the default is 8:00 - 5:00 p.m. I would like to change that to
8:30 - 5:00 p.m.

I've already tried to change the time in Tools_Options, but it does not
change the time when I go into the calendar. I am having to go into "Change
working times" and doing it from there each time.

As you mention, you will need to change the time in the "Change working
times." You can either change the standard calendar or make a new calendar
that is based on the standard calendar (New... button). You can then
highlight the Monday thru Friday columns and change the time from 8:00 to
8:30. To have this available to all new projects that you create, you can
use the organizer (Tools-Organizer...Calendars tab) to copy the calendar
from the current project and place it in the global.mpt file. When you
create a new project, you can choose the default project calendar on the
Project Information window (Project - Project Information...)

Enjoy.

AntonionR20,
The option to "use default" on the "Change Working TIme" window is
misleading. As the help file says, checking the "use default" option
"Resets the selected working and nonworking days you selected to match
the settings on the selected resource's base calendar." It does NOT set
the working time calendar to match the default start and stop times
under Tools/Option/Calendar tab.

If you want to set up your working times to be 8:30 to 12:30 and 1:00 to
5:00 then you will need to do it in both places. To make it easier in
the Change Working TIme window, I suggest you create your own custom
calendar (it may or may be helpful to start with the Standard calendar).
Then select the headers (i.e. M-F) for whatever month is currently
showing (that will effectively select all working days for every month).
Then check "Non-default working time" and set your times. That custom
calendar will only be active for the file where it was created but it
can be moved to your Global (thus making it available to any Project
file) by using Tools/Organizer.

Hope this helps.
