Chart horizontal axis can't be edited

I have a couple of new charts, bar and line. The horizontal axis consists of dates. When I try to edit the horizontal category axis using the scale selection, I keep getting a pop up saying that the entry is invalid. This happens EVEN IF I CHANGE NOTHING!

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I solved it. Apparently you can only edit the horizontal category axis using the scale selection if the scale is in a format like 6/17/09. Something like Jun-09 locks out the editor.

In Excel X you could edit regardless of format.

Just found a bit more. In the horizontal category axis edit window if the date format is Jun-09 you can temporarily change it to 6/17/09 using the Number pane, then move to the Scale pane to edit that and then go back to the Number pane and return to the Jun-09 format.
