When my images come up in clip art they don't show thumbnails any more, just
the Windows Media type player logo with a paper behind it. Is there some
setting that needs to be changed?

For a start, try emptying your TIF cache: on the General tab of Tools |
Internet Options in Internet Explorer or Control Panel | Internet Options,
under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files..., then click OK.
