Color change in Powerpoint 2008

I am putting together a training that was originally designed in Powerpoint.
I started about 6 months ago and have to make a few updates to complete. I
was exporting the slides that I needed as png files. For some reason the png
files that I export today are darker and more true to the actual colors in
the pptx. The only difference that I have noticed is that the older
(lighter) png files are using sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and the ones that I am
exporting today are using Generic RGB Profile. The training is over 100
pages with several animations and I really do not want to have to redo the
entire training to the backgrounds match. Did something change in Powerpoint
to cause this?

Current version of Powerpoint is 12.2.0, not sure if this is what I was
using before or if it's been updated, I cannot remember.

I greatly appreciate any assistance.
