combining templates

I have two documents that I want to join to form one. The
first document is one page long and was created using a
general template for a contemporay report and it affects
all the pages coming after it. The second document was
made using the normal template. How do I add them
together so that they keep their own formating and not
affect one another?

You can't. One document has one template. Reformat the one-pager to use the
styles of the normal.dot.

Or combine them into a single PDF using Acrobat.
