Anyone know how to enable this feature? I can display toolbar but
button does not open dialog for it. Thanks for your help.

Hello JPBlog,

The Compare Project Versions is actually a COM Add-in file named
compprj.dll. Try the following:

Tools > Customize > Toolbars.
In the customize dialog box, select the Commands tab.
In the Categories: list scroll to find All Commands.
Click on All Commands and in the Commands: list on the right find
ComAddInsDialog.
Drag that command to a toolbar.
Click the COM Add-Ins... toolbar button and you should see the list of
add-ins.
My installation shows the following when I select the Compare Project
Versions Utility:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\COMPPRJ.DLL

Try removing and then adding the file.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I've been having the same problem and tried your solution but know I can't
add that file back in, any thoughts? Thanks.

Hello Chris,

When you say you "can't add the file back in" can you be more
specific? Is it that you can't find the file? Can you find the file
but the Add button in the COM Add-Ins dialog is disabled?

Did you search for the COMPPRJ.DLL file on your machine? The path I
noted was the install path on my machine -- your location may be
different.

What version (including service pack) of Project are you using?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

I did find the COM add-in file and and in that dialog box clicked add. I
then select the compproj, dll but when I choose it, it does not show as added
in the COM add-in box. Thanks for helping!

Julie,

Sorry, it's MS Project 2007. Unfortunately it's my work computer and is at
the office so I'm not sure which exact version of MSP '07 it is. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the additional information that you are using Project 2007.
I just stepped back through the process with Project 2007 Professional
with SP-1 several times and have been able to merrily Remove and Add
the utility repeatedly. When I remove the Utility from the COM
Add-Ins dialog box, it disappears from the list completely. However,
I can still click the Add button, find the COMPPRJ.DLL file and the
utility shows up, checked in the dialog box and is there to run.

I know you can't experiment currently as your PC is at work, but on
Monday if you could carefully step through the directions and post
back with details about what happens (or doesn't happen) and during
what step, we might be able to track it down further.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
