Compare to original Baseline

Dear all,

assuming, I have an early version of a Project Plan with only planned
values inside. Of this plan, I safe a baseline.
No the project plan "lives" meaning:

1) actual costs of tasks completed are entered
2) later tasks are refined and planned in more detail

I would like to have a comparison with a baseline, which contains only
my planned values.

As soon, as I enter actual values and safe a new baseline because I
added new tasks, the planned costs or finished tasks are replaced by the
actual values.

How do I get a comparison with my original planning costs, after I have
to add tasks to a baseline?

Riko,

Your mistake was saving a new baseline. That writes over the old baseline so
the data is lost.
At this point there are two choices
1) Use the compare project versions add-in and get whatever data you can out
of it.
2) Update the early version to match the current version.

#2 could be difficult. I think you could develop an automated process to do
it, but even doing that could take some time. I haven't seen any macros or
code out there which does this so you would be starting from scratch. If not
much has changed then it wouldn't be too hard, but if many assignments,
resources and tasks have changed or are new then it would be a problem.
