Hi; I now have Office 97 (upgraded) on a computer. Can I
successfully use a word document created in Word from
Office 2000 from a disk and print it out ? A window popped
up suggesting I reformat the disk. What does reformatting
do to the Office 2000 Word document? I have not tried for
fear of ruining the document. Thanks

Hi Janet,

Are you trying to use a document from a diskette?
If so, try first copying it to your hard drive then
opening it in Word then printing. Word and diskettes
aren't usually a good combination as Word tries to
create a number of work files there when you open
the .DOC file directly.

The message is from Windows rather than from Word.
Word 97 and Word 2000 use the same basic file format.
You certainly don't want to reformat a disk with files
on it, nor do you want to reformat your hard drive
that has Windows and Office as well as all of your
data and documents on it.
