computer changes word doc to note pad

my computer is changing all my 2003 word docs to note pad on its own.

my computer is changing all my 2003 word docs to note pad on its own.

Use Windows Explorer - Tools - Folder Options. Click on the
File Types tab and scroll down the list to the extension
DOC. Doublecheck that it is associated with Word.
