Conditional Formatting

Using Access ’03…

I’ve been working on this little nuisance for few hours:

I have a simple (1) conditional formatting set; something like:
Expression Is [txtBoxA] > Forms!frmB!txtBoxB

The conditional formatting works, but I have a problem with the
colors. Conditional formatting only allows you a certain amount of
back colors. I don’t want any back colors! What I want is the default
light grey found in the Detail’s back color; the other grey is too
dark.

I thought I figured it out by setting the textbox back style to
transparent. What happens though, is that if the first record of the
continuous form gets set by the conditional formatting, the back color
turns white, while the rest (formatted or not) are transparent and
appear light grey.

So now I have a continuous form (subform) with 25 records formatted
perfectly except the first record (which is now a white box in a sea
of grey). What’s interesting, is that if the first record is not
formatted (with the conditional formatting) the white background will
not appear anywhere; i.e., if the formatting is applied to the second
or subsequent record, everything is fine.

Too strange and very frustrating!

Has anyone run into this?
