connect text box toolbar is grayed out.

The "connect text box" toolbar is grayed out. How do get it to work?

I've tried clicking within the overfloweing text area that I want to flow
into another textbox, and I've clicked on the toolbar itself, but nothing
works.

Any help will be appreciated. I have Publisher 2003.

You can only link to an empty text box.

Thanks. That helps a lot. For some reason, I thought that the text had to be
inside the box.
