Contact folder cannot be displayed

I was adding in some contacts from and excel program and then all my contacts
have now gone away. I hit the contacts tab and it says folder cannot be
displayed and in the contacts folder there is no place anymore to add a new
contact. I can add them from the tool bar in mail but then they go to another
place. I have been using this since last year and have not had this issue. I
have unstalled and reinstalled and nothing worked. Help please

You'd need to post far more accurate and complete information. There is far
more to your story than you have conveyed.
Do you back up your data regularly?

I'm sorry. I use vista, and outlook 2007. All I was doing was adding in email
contacts one at at time from an excel program, when I went to my contacts in
outlook it states "cannot display the folder" and no contacts are there. I
had approx 250 in there already then added about 20 more. right below the
file tab is where you should be able to add more contacts now mine just has a
one note and search address book field. The old contacts do appear in the
drop down list when sending out a new email. If I do an advanced search I get
this mess. "search cannot be completed the contacts folder assoicated with
this address list could not be opened it may have been moved or deleted or
you do not have permission for information how to remove this folder from the
outlook address book see MOO help" I did not move or delete anything. And yes
I do back up my entire computer weekly and have done a restore. I hope this
helps. thank you for your time

What exactly do you mean by "I was adding Contacts one at a time from an
excel program." That means nothing to us.
If you use Folder View to display your entire Folder hierarchy, how many
Contact Folders do you see?

Not sure what you mean by a "restore." Doing a system restore will do
nothing to restore your data. I was asking if you back up your Outlook data
file in case you've done it irreparable harm.
