Continuos login prompt Microsoft Project Web Access

J

Joshua

We are having a problem with a few users constantly getting prompted
for login and password when going to Project web from their
workstations.
The problem does not occur, when they go to another workstation or use
a terminal server to access Project web.
All of these affected users are local admins, and it only happens to a
handful.
The office web components have also been installed.
Users are setup to use their windows account login and password.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there a known entry in the registry that can be changed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Josh,

Question?
When you say, "getting prompted for login and password" is the PWA login
page or the Windows Security popup?

If it is the Popup, then have your user trust the PWA URL and these
security popups will go away as it's a settings in IE security.

Good Luck and let us know

Hi Josh,

Have the user verify the following IE Security Settings on their
machine:

1. Internet Explorer menu --> Tools --> Internet Options.
2. Click on Security tab, click Trusted Sites and click Custom Level
3. At the Security Settings dialog box, go to the bottom of the list
under User Authentication, select Automatic logon with current username
and password, and then click OK twice.

Let us know how it turns out

Joshua,

Make sure the users have the discussion feature in IE turned off. We had
that some issue a couple of times and were able to solve it that way.

Let us know if that helps...

Disengage your Discussion Bar in Internet Explorer:

Click View on main IE menu. Point to Explorer Bar.

If "Discuss" has a check mark, click Discuss to *remove the check mark*
and clear it.

You may note, if the discussion bar is active, it would appear near the
bottom of IE window.

.... ?
Which issue ?

I am experiencing a similar issue, although our users aren't Admins of
their box. Have you had any luck resolving this?

We are expereincing a similar issue. Some users receive the 'Windows
Security Login Popup' when accessing PWA if the 'DISCUSSION FEATURE' in IE is
activated.
Even if the user attempts to login using the 'Windows Security Login Popup'
the login fails and returns them to the Popup. Disabling the 'DISCUSSION
FEATURE' in IE does resolve the issue and appears to be a suitable
'WORKAROUND'.

However, that does not explian why the majority of our PWA users have the IE
'DISCUSSION FEATURE' enabled yet DO NOT expereince the 'Windows Security
Login Popup'.
1. All users are on the same release of IE.
2. All users have their IE Security settings set as described in this thread.

Has anyone found a solution for this issue yet?

David.

It may be a corrupt local AD/user profile. I see that a few times a week and
rebuilding the profile seems to work.
