I want to have the first footnote in my document be marked with a "*" and
then the subsequent footnotes to be numbered 1, 2, 3, etc.
To do this, I am trying to insert a section break after the line containing
the first footnote.
I don't want a page break there. I want the text to continue on the same
page.
So, I choose Insert -> Break, and then under "section break types," I choose
"continuous."
But Word puts a page break in at that point anyway! It refuses to continue
the text on the same page!
What's wrong? I'm using MS Word 2003 (11.5604.5606) with Windows Vista.
Thanks,
Jon
