Controlling how much work 2 resources do for one task

I have two resources, R1 and R2. R1 has max units of 70% for this project and
R2 has max units of 60% for this project.

If I have a task that both need to participate on, but I know that R1 needs
to do 80% of the work on that particular task, and R2 needs to do 20% of the
work, how can I accomplish this?

You can assign the appropriate amount of work to each of the resources
in one of the views such as Task Form or via the resource management
dialogue.

I would recommend assigning such work using the Task Usage or Resource
Usage tables. There you have day by day, even hour by hour control of
who does what when, and how much each one does.

Thanks, but it seems like if I specify the % on the task for each resource,
it is just defining how much of that resources time can be spent on that
task. I am looking for a way to specify that for the given task R1 needs to
do 80% of the work and R2 needs to do 20% (so it totals 100% of the work)...

Yes, you do it the way that davegb and myself have suggested.

You know how much work is on the task so you work out what 20% of it is
and give it to one of your resources and the remainder to the other
through your preferred view/entry method.

There is no magic weighting button to allow a resource to be assigned a
greater proportion than another.
