Converting a Scan to a Worksheet

Can anyone tell me if I can convert a scanned table (.jpg
file) to Excel?

depends on the OCR program. They will create a document which you can
read in Excel or Word. After this you can change the file. Note: No way
to directly change the image with Excel.

It would be better to get the original file instead of the scanned
image

P.S.: Most scanners come with an OCR software package included
