Converting Office 2003 PST files to Office XP

I saved all of my Office 2003 PST files for use on a new computer.

The new computer has Office XP and can not open the files.

I understand that it is possible (if you have access to Office 2003) to save
PST files in an older format, but what do you do if you don't have access to
Office 2003 any more?

Is there a simple update for Office XP that modifies your import/export/open
capability to include Office 2003?

Wanna hear a sad tale?

I just tried the "Try MS Office 2003 free trial" icon on my PC. Apparently
they give me an option to try it out. I was thinking "HEy, I will install it,
save my PST files into an older version, and then I am set". WRONG!

I went through the process up to the point that it asked for my product key.
Entered the key "Error: Invalid Key". I double/triple checked the key that
was on the back of my Office XP container.

So then, I tried requesting a new key. MS Office had me fill in a form and
when it was all done, I got an "Error: No valid Key available".

Grrr....

If you contact Microsoft PSS, they will convert the files for you.

I know this is probably a crazy idea, but why doesn't Microsoft offer an
Office XP patch that allows you to import Office 2003 PST files?

The files are extremely large. Sending them over the internet would take a
ton of time. A small piece of software that understands the PST format is all
it would take and would probably help others like myself that are in this
kind of bind.
