Converting text to table: not creating rows properly

A

Ariel

Am trying to convert long document of text to a single
column table. I have inserted a "tab" between each block
of text to delineate where I want each new row, and have
set the "Separate Text At" to the "Tab" radial button.
When I convert, however, every line of text is given its
own row (based on each paragragh break).

Additionally, where as I set the "Number of Columns" to 1,
after converting, it gives me 4 columns; the first has the
text, the other 3 are blank.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

thanks,

"Separate text at" is for columns. Word always begins a new row with a
paragraph mark. You will need to replace your tabs with paragraph marks if
the you want the text between tabs on a separate row.
