Converting to Project Server

I

Ian

Hi,

I'm using Project 2003 professional, with a shared
resource pool and an integrated programme plan with linked
sub projects inserted.

I currently store al the files in PVCS (Version manager)
and check them out an run all the files from my local
directory.

I'm now looking to move to Project Server.

Will it keep all the imbedded links and is there any
general advice you can give regarding moving to Project
Server?

Thanks

Yes it will keep the files exactly the same as if they were typical files.
My advice on project server is to read as much about it as you can.
Implementing all of the features which it is capable of is fairly
complicated (not just on the software side, but in training the users,
settling on standardized processes, setting up groups and standard coding
etc.) so you might want to have a consultant help you.
I consider Project Server to be the equivalent of the "Microsoft Project
Consultant Full Employment Act". I generally have a low opinion of the value
of consultants, but in this case, I can't help recommending that you find a
good one.
