Converting works to excell

I recently purchased a computer with XP and added Office Excell. On my old 98
I used Works for my financial reports. I had a backup floppy that I have
Works spread sheet on but when I try to put the information on the new Excell
all I get is computer language and a statement that they are not compatible.
The old hard disk crashed so I don't have Works. What do i do to make these
two ( Works and Excell) compatible. Also I don't know what the spread sheet
in Works was called but it might be Microsofr 97. Thanks

Excel should open your file. Copy the file to your hard drive. In Excel, file, open,
files of type, scroll down to Works.(wks)

Do NOT open the file directly from the floppy. Copy it over to your hard
disk I doubt if this will help the problem but it never hurts to learn what
*not* to do.
