Copy ALL poject data into a new plan

In relation to my earlier posting on "File Not Found" error 53, it has
occurred to me that my plan might be corrupted - is there any way in which I
can copy and paste ALL the data from one plan into a new one (including text
formatting) apart from doing a "Save As" (which simply carries the corruption
over to the new file)

Thanks!

Yes, but when I do, not only does the new project start at the current date
and not the date of the earliest task, which is back in 2002, but I only get
data copied to the default columns that are created in the new plan, and not
the additional ones that were inserted into the original one - of course, if
i could get rid of the File Not Found messages every time I Shift-F11 to go
into VBA, I wouldn't NEED to copy and paste to a new project anyway..!

Pete,
Just following the thread here, do you still get the "file not found"
message with the copied file? If you don't, then the Start date of the
new project is easy to fix (i.e. Project/Project Information) and the
view Table can easily be changed to suit your needs (i.e.
View/Table/More Tables).

If you suspect file corruption, you might want to take a look at FAQ 43
- File Bloat? Might be corruption on the MVP website at:

John is correct. Even if the fields are not visible, the data that is in
them is still there.
You just need to display them.

Hi,

When Jack says "Select all tasks" he means by selecting the IDs NOT all the
fields
Then you also copy the fields not shown. You copy ALLL from the task and you
create the resources they use.
However, to really copy EVERYTHING you also have to
- Do the same for the resources (such that you copy their calendar etc.)
- Run through the Organizer and copy all objects specifically created in
your file (most likely, Views and Tables)

And yes, set teh Project Start Date right.

Hi, all,

I ended up copying and pasting everything to a new project - it wasn't fun,
but I DID learn a lot about copying and pasting (and reformatting of text
which C+P doesn't handle..!) I can now get into VBA OK and create macros in
the project file as well as the global macro sheet, which I also couldn't do
previously.

Thanks to all for your advice!

Hi,

For formatting you didn't need copying and pasting but the Organizer, didn't
you?
