Copy/Paste booklet from another program

In past years, I have been successful in transferring, by cut/paste, a church
directory from our membership software over to Publisher for printing. (This
is necessary since our membership software will not paginate properly for
printing.) I have been trying to do this recently for a different church and
am having difficulties.

I have created a blank booklet in Publisher and am trying to cut/paste the
directory from our membership software to Publisher. What tranfers is
everything jumbled up on top of each other and it doesn't even transfer onto
the pages. It all sits down below a ways from the booklet pages I created.

What is happening? I did not have this problem in the past. Everything
worked wonderfully when I did this a few years ago.

I don't remember which Publisher version I used before, but I'm presently
using Publisher 2003.

What happens when you select paste special? Is your membership software in the form
of a database? Use Publisher's catalog merge and start from scratch.
