Cost changes after BL is set (with no changes to the schedule)

PS 2007 SP1
The baseline has just been set and the project published. I open the
schedule and I also have someone else open the same schedule and we both see
the same number in baseline cost. However I see a different number in cost
than they do. We are both opening by "file open>retrieve the list of all
projects from Project Server". I have tested opening it read only vs.
read/write, cleaning out cache and various ways but still do not get the same
as the other person. I had yet another person to open it and they see the
same results as I see. The number in cost (whenever it is different from
baseline cost) is always the same regardless of the user. When drilling down
in the schedule the difference occurs only with one resource which is named
Planning Pkg. Although this resource is used on several tasks the one where
the difference occurs is where the task spans from one CY to the next. Since
this is unexpected and unexplainable is this possibly corruption or do you
have a less painful answer?

HI Peggy,

from what you are describing, I would think that the painful answer is the
only one, meaning that the schedule may be currupt. The cost difference you
are experiencing, if you would delete the task, re-create the task and
re-baseline the project, this may resolve the issue.

Somethimes when I have a task with numbers, which I then turn into a Summary
task, the numbers do not add up correctly, what I do is delete the summary
task and re-create it, that resolves the issue most times. This may also help
you
Let me know if this resolved the issue
thanks
