Crash when inserting picture

When I try to insert a picture in:
Publisher 2003
Publisher 2007
Word 2003

it crashes. Every time even after reinstalls and repairs.

Anyone know of a cause or fix??

Is it any picture or just one? How large is the picture? Clipart or your own
picture?
