Creating a date scale graph within a report

Hello;

I am trying to create a graph in an Access report that uses a date as a time
scale. The source data is a linked exel spreadsheet setup as follows:

VLDT Managed Money SCM Universe
Dec-96 10,000 10,000
Dec-97 10,156 10,165
Dec-98 10,247 10,356
ectc
There are 11 data points, the chart type I am using is a line graph.

My frustration is as follows. The date scale, is not showing as a date
scale even though both the excel data and the scale formatting I am using in
the graph is set to date. While I am getting the graph lines I expect, it
just isn't starting at the point I need it to which is where the x and y
meet. Where it is starting is at the first date variable a few millimeters
from the "0" ie the line where the x and y axis join.

If, I was using excel and I have created the same graph in excel, I can go
into the scale and adjust where I want things to start. However, this isn't
optimal as I have 400 reports to create each with there own graphs and I
don't want to have to copy and insert each of the graphs from excel into the
access database if I don't have to.

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!!

Forgot to mention, I am using access 97 at work and playing around in Access
2000 at home trying to figure this out. I have the same results in both
versions

Never Mind, I finally got it to work!!!!

The whole frustration starts with the sample graph...which you have to go in
and out of MANY Times in order to see your data so that the correct scaling
option appears. I actually closed the database and reopened it atleast 10
times before the sample chart was gone..

I must have given up too quickly before.
