creating multiple .pst file for multiple outlook 2000 users

K

kay (tn)

My objective is to be able to send calendar invitations to my 2 children
(separate users and email) and have them keep their own personal calendars up
to date.

I am trying to create multiple .pst file for multiple outlook 2000 users. I
have created differrent Windows Users and set up their data files, email
accounts, etc. I have referenced and found how to move the .pst file to
another location. However, when I sign in to any user OUTLOOK still defaults
to the same data file.

Instructions I found on the net, mentioned CTRL PANEL, MAIL, SHOW PROFILES,
PEROPERTIES, DATA FILES. The problem I do not have the DATA FILES selection.
I am using Outlook 2000 on Windows 98. Please help!

Is there another version I can install to be able to accomplish this? This
system is running Windows 98 and cannot be upgraded any further. It
connected via wireless system to an XP Office 2003 system downstairs.

Okay - this is my last response to you. You say you cannot get it to work
with your setup. Please, post the details of your setup. I am not looking
over your shoulder and cannot see what you are seeing. You are apparently
assuming that I am in the room with you and have all the information you
have when you say that is is not working for you.

If you want help, you need to help us.

And please do NOT multi-post.

I apologize, I seem to have offended you. I have never accessed this sight
before and received no further information on my last post, so I decided to
start all over again. I thought I had answered your prior questions, but
will try again. I'm not sure of all the setup details you would like, so
please let me know if you need further information

PC #1 running Windows XP, Outlook 2003 (downstairs)
PC #2 runs Windows 98, Outlook 2000 (Internet Mail only)on a wireless DLINK
to
PC #1(upstairs)

PC #2 - I have setup 2 different users through the Windows 98 (Control
Panel/Users). Each user was set up w/ different Startup, Documents Folders,
etc.
Each user has a different email addresses.

My QUESTION IS:
I would like to be able to send calendar invitations to my 2
children (separate users and email addresses) and have them keep their own
personal calendars separate and up to date.

I have realized this file reside in the .pst folders. I found instructions
on the microsoft website that instructed me on how to 'move' the pst file and
then change the Properties/Data Files selection to point to the new location.
My hope was to move the original, then create a new on for the 2nd user.
However, when I select the Properties for my windows users, I do not have a
Data Files Selection tab or button. I realized I may have hit a dead end.

Your last answer to me stated that what I was trying to achieve was not
possible w/Internet Mail only. I've looked everywhere on my system and that
was the decision I was coming to, however, I hate to give up on an something
when it only makes sense that it should be possible.

I'm not a computer expert, just a mom, who is trying to help her youth learn
to use computers to help organize their lives. I very much appreciate all
your help.

Please let me know if there are additional set up details you may need.

Okay, based on your answer, the easiest method is to just use appointment
items to "invite" your users to events. When creating an event, just use
the "add attendees" button from the appointment item's toolbar to get to the
window that allows you to add people to the event/appointment.

Yes, this is what I have been doing. I send an invitation (from PC#1-XP) to
one user (PC#2 -win 98) and they accept the invitation, it is placed on their
calendar(PC#2). However, this calendar seems to be shared by both users
(PC#2 ).

I'm would like for each of the users (PC#2) to have a separate calendar. Is
there a way to point outlook, by user, to a separate calendar?

||||||
||||||| My objective is to be able to send calendar invitations to my 2
||||||| children (separate users and email) and have them keep their own
||||||| personal calendars up to date.
|||||||
||||||| I am trying to create multiple .pst file for multiple outlook
||||||| 2000 users. I have created differrent Windows Users and set up
||||||| their data files, email accounts, etc. I have referenced and
||||||| found how to move the .pst file to another location. However,
||||||| when I sign in to any user OUTLOOK still defaults to the same
||||||| data file.
|||||||
||||||| Instructions I found on the net, mentioned CTRL PANEL, MAIL,
||||||| SHOW PROFILES, PEROPERTIES, DATA FILES. The problem I do not
||||||| have the DATA FILES selection. I am using Outlook 2000 on
||||||| Windows 98. Please help!
