Creating Shapes from existing masters.

Hi.

Does anyone have any good pointers on where to start when you want to
create/modify shapes?
I am trying to modify the existing List Box master (I've copied it into my
own stencil so that I can modify it) so that I can change the color of the
text. That's all I want and it's driving me a little batty.

I must be missing something the text is associated with the actions
(show/hide teh toolbar) so I am wondering if that final bit is a control that
I just don't have access to or not... If someone could point me to some
tutorials or knowledge base as to how to disect what I am looking at that
would be great!

Thanks !
Jay

Hi Jay,

The Windows User Interface shapes are locked down tightly so that they
conform to the UI Guidelines. However, you can modify the shapes to allow
custom formatting. Try these steps for the List Box master.

1) Right click on your copy of the master shape and choose Edit Master >
Edit Master Shape
2) Select the shape in the edit window and choose Window > Show Shapesheet
3) Scroll down to the Character section and select the Color cell
4) Press delete in the cell to reset the formula to 0
5) Close the Shapesheet and edit windows and save changes

Now you can set the text color to what you want. Note that you lose the
behavior that automatically turns the text gray when you make the control
disabled.
